Exorcism – what is that exactly?

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia New Advent, exorcism is:

(1) the act of driving out, or warding off, demons, or evil spirits, from persons, places, or things, which are believed to be possessed or infested by them, or are liable to become victims or instruments of their malice;

(2) the means employed for this purpose, especially the solemn and authoritative adjuration of the demon, in the name of God, or any of the higher power in which he is subject.

There are multiple reports on the web that will tell you exorcism rates have gone up or have gone down, but just like with all statistics on the web those ‘facts’ really need to be taken with a teaspoon of salt.  I know multiple individuals who do the work that I do and not a single person or entity has asked them if their business has gone up or down, regardless of what religion or affiliation they belong to.

What THAT means is that some are Shamans, many align themselves as New Age Christians, some consider themselves spiritual, and others who identify as Metaphysical.  Personally, I view myself as “spiritual” because no one particular belief system has ever worked for me and as I use gifts such as clairaudience to communicate with the Angelics and Light Beings, that is the closest I can do for labeling myself.

So – if over 25 people I know who do this either part time or full time have never been pinged, I think it is quite safe to say that whoever is creating these reports has very faulty knowledge.

So – back to exorcism.  I don’t use the word myself as it has a LOT of negative connotations with it, from misinformation to outright hilarity, but I do use it when I try to explain to someone who is completely outside the metaphysical word because the word is recognized easily.

The word is recognized, but the individual who does this work comes in many different shapes and sizes.  Some label themselves as Mediums because they can speak with ghosts/discarnates but they never do any de-possession work.

Some like to work with nature and balancing out the energies of the planet from the various ills that have and are occurring that create negative energies.

The majority of individuals I know who have learned how to do this work just choose to not do it for what should be obvious reasons.  Those reasons range from it is just a scary idea that demons etc. exist to the fear of becoming possessed because they are trying to help someone else.

If the exorcist contacted reacts with anything other than curiosity, you may want to reconsider utilizing their services.  Curiosity is not eagerness. Eagerness can be a strong indicator of lack of experience which can lead to the knowledge that they really have not been trained at all to do the work.

If you are concerned about this person’s experience level ask for particular situation examples.  Length of time doing this work means nothing if someone has only done this work twice in 10 years.  Professionals will not mind giving you examples of work they have done, though they ought not provide details so specific that you could track the situation down on the internet.

Again – this work is not for the faint of heart and it is not for someone who has watched some movie and thinks they can talk to spirits so hey, let’s give it a try.

Ghosts are relatively easy to process though there is that percentage that are stubborn and attach themselves to someone or some thing to be able to stay on this plane of existence.  I know there exists a certain percentage of individuals who feel that having ghosts around is really cool, however, their being present on the earth plane is not proper for their soul plus if you are helping them stay that can create negative karma on your part.

I am not going to go into to move ghosts/discarnates along in this article. It has too often been misunderstood and misused and there are too many people out there who simply belong in the “that’s not going to happen to me” category, thus they do something that not only endangers themselves but others.

Please don’t misunderstand me.  I am not going to stop someone from exercising their free will to do whatever they want.  It is the fact that they do things that can endanger someone else who may not have had the situation explained properly or they have not been given the opportunity to exercise their free will that concerns me.

I have dealt with too many young people who saw a movie and decided they would do something “to see what happens” and then end up in situations that are not easily resolved.  The fear and pain they feel from what they have acquired thus keeps them from helping themselves, sealing the demons and detritus within them and leaving those outside of them unable to assist.

Ghosts/discarnates are easier to deal with than the demon category.  Working with the land is easier still.  Demons should never be attempted unless you have worked under the eye of someone who has not only the skill to take care of the situation but can also take care of YOU should you fall prey to that which you are supposed to be ridding someone of.

Just as you would not go to someone for surgery who has not gone to school AND done a lengthy residency under another doctor’s eye, don’t contact just ANYONE to do the work that is necessary.  Reputable exorcists (or cleansers, as I prefer to call myself) will be able to tell you what the situation is from where they are sitting and how much it will cost before they ever come out.  If they give you a standard pricing menu then you may want to look elsewhere.

This work is not the same as a party where you pull out your Ouija board to play pretend.  People can be hurt emotionally, physically, and energetically when screw offs dabble where they should not.

And the truth is, there is an exceedingly small percentage of the people who DO this work who are actually proficient at it.  Most are fooled by the demons to thinking they are gone when, in fact, the demon just hopped hosts.

If this is giving you pause, making you question what you have believed to be true, or causing you to sneer – GOOD.  All these reactions mean you have actually read what this article is about and comprehended enough to have a reaction to it.  This is the first step.

I always give estimates before I work with anyone and I will tell them how many sessions (if more than 1) it will take to clear the situation up.  If it takes more than that I often times eat the extra cost, unless there was way more to the situation than was shared with me.

Free will allows the client to not tell me everything and if they don’t share something pertinent with me, I don’t have the right to necessarily pry into the situation energetically.  For example, let’s say you know grandpa’s been acting very unlike himself for years but you contact me to just have the house cleared because you have had doors open or lights turn on or off.

Well, after I am done the house will be cleared, but it is momentary if grandpa’s possessed.  You might get a whole 24 hours of peace, but after that it is uncertain because that which has possessed grandpa may just attract more things to the space.

You will encounter a large number of exorcists who will assure you up, down, left, right, and sideways that when they are done the space will stay cleared forever. This is not true – and thus this person is not truly an exorcist.  Our world is made up of energy and these beings are also energy.  They are attracted to certain energy frequencies and if grandpa is the lighthouse saying “come on over” you will absolutely have something begin to happen.

I love my work.  This work and my ability to do it explained why I have been the way I have been all my life.  This work fills me with joy.  I love possession work, I love clearing the land/space/environments, and I love the discarnate work.  There are other things in addition to this, but I am not going to dig into that because it can scare people to know about them

I freak 99.99% of people in the Light Community out because of the work I do.  I freak out 100% of those with the fact that the work fills me with joy.  Most people who do this work feel they HAVE to do this work because they keep getting asked to do something and they just fall into the pattern of doing it.  This does not mean they are effective at it – they are just the “go to” person for the area and feel obligated to continue to do so.  In some cases, when someone like me comes into the area, their ego will go so upset that they will continue to do the work even though they are not that good at it.

Many people who do this work are sincere in their desire to help others free themselves from what they perceive as evil.  This is a commendable attitude and belief, however, this alone is not going to make them effective.  Full body possession can be a terrifying situation for someone who is totally not prepared for it.  While some things can be done distantly, true full body possession requires a hands-on approach.  Often this is for the loved ones to be able to reach out and touch the exorcist and know help is actually there.

Do not ever discount the comfort an exorcist can provide by just being present in the space. 90% of my work does not need me to be physically present, yet my being there for clients lends them emotional comfort.  So, I do it when I can.  Since many cannot afford the expenses involved with bringing me to their environment I often do sessions distantly to get the situation under a certain amount of control.

At that point, sadly, the situation is no longer as scary and people state that they are fine with the way it now is and so my services are no longer needed.  This is sad, not because I am worried about losing income, but because the situation ONLY has a band aid on it and will eventually recreate what made them scared in the first place.

I have done work in homes, businesses, historical venues, churches, and stores. There is no ‘sacred’ place that will keep demons away because our world is made of energy and these are energy beings.  Tell yourself to stop breathing air and see how long that works for you. Same thing, though a little convoluted on the example.

I pride myself on discretion; it does not help anyone to act like the crazy person from the movies and it can prevent people from seeking help in the first place. Professional exorcists are just that – professional.  If you get someone in who starts behaving in a way that makes you extremely uncomfortable (I have seen some weird stuff in my time that was supposed to be effective) stop them.  Make them explain exactly what they are doing and why.  If they cannot explain what and why then you ought to have them leave.  It is a 99% chance they have no idea what they are doing and will only complicate the matter greatly.

And, if they say they want to film it or bring in equipment, please note – these are not exorcists.  They are paranormal groupies looking to document “something” to boost their egos.  Every show you watch on TV that purports to be “real” is fake. Promise – fake.  I have encountered two such groups in the past and both were completely intimidated by the work I do.  They like to believe it is all fake and make believe, but you put a proper possession or haunting in their faces and they freak out because they don’t know what to do!  One key person on the show became extremely hostile to me because he wanted to make money off of what I wanted to clear away.  NOT someone you want in your home or work environment!

Professionals will empathize and try to leave your home as untouched as possible. They know you have to live there.  Sometimes it may be necessary to move furnishings around, but exorcists don’t haul in more than a small bag or two of stuff to do their work and they won’t start banging holes in your walls. They won’t want to put cameras up to film everything that goes on either.  These people are just voyeurs who are looking for some validation that they exist.  Go professional – it may cost a little more, but isn’t grandpa’s sanity and your home worth it?

To end up this long diatribe regarding authentic exorcists, use your common sense. Hauntings and possessions are NOT common sense oriented, but that does not mean you need to throw everything out the window because it is new to you.  God gave you some sense – use it to help yourselves and rid yourself of the drama!
